Travis P. Wagner

Travis P. Wagner is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern Maine. He received his Ph.D. from The George Washington University and has published many works on the history of American industry, environmental policy, and technology. As a respected scholar and lecturer, he has written extensively on the forces that shaped America in the nineteenth century. His most recent article, “New York Theater Invades Pioneer California,” which he co-authored, was published in New York History Review.

With Military Honor on Trial, Dr. Wagner's eighth book, he uses his thorough historical perspective to explore nineteenth-century military history. He sheds important new light on the complex and often tense relationship between antebellum officers and their strict commitment to honor and duty.
